First of all, as far as shipping goes, I will only charge you for shipping what it costs me to actually ship the soap. That comes out to a lot more than you’d think.
I ship all of my soap in one of two ways:
First, if you are only ordering 2 or 3 bars (less than a pound) of soap, I can fit it in the USPS priority mail small box. It costs $5.15 to ship.
If you are ordering 1-5 pounds of soap, or 4-20 standard sized bars, I can fit it in a 6″x6″x6″ box that costs $1.00–$1.15 depending on how much soap you are ordering. This is because if you are ordering a small amount, I have to put more bubble wrap in the package to keep it from flying around.
Shipping for this box increases, obviously, as the weight increases, but it increases at a disproportionately smaller rate than the amount of soap.
So, while I might charge you $8.40 to ship 1 lb of soap, meaning you would pay $18.40 total for just one pound of soap, you would only have to pay $12.07 for 5 lb of soap, pay a total of $52.07, which is only $10.41 per pound.
Obviously it’s cheaper if you live in town and I can simply deliver my soap to you– no shipping charges at all!
but if you live out of town and want to order some soap from me, consider going in with a friend, relative, or neighbor. It will save you a lot of money in shipping costs!
